My Morning with "Nancy" and a Visit to Rockfish

Breakfast:
1/2 Mango Kombucha

I drank the other half post-WOD.

Lunch:
Rockfish Seafood Grill for:
Side Salad w/Shallot Vinaigrette
Blackened Trout w/Roasted Red Pepper Sauce, Sauteed Spinach, and Steamed Broccoli

I never would've just chosen to eat at Rockfish, but tried it with my friend Becky a few weeks ago...so good! I say that I wouldn't try this restaurant only because from the outside it just looks like any other big chain. I made the assumption that the food would be standard fare (salty, over-cooked, and smothered in some sort of random sauce to hide the poor quality)...I was totally wrong.

In my two visits, the food has been really fresh, wasn't over-salted, and just tasted great! I also liked that they gave us the option to create our own meal; you first choose your fish and preparation (blackened or grilled; grilled is the healthier option, but blackened sounded good so I got it), then choose your sauce (Paleo-friendly options include Tomatillo Sauce and Roasted Red Pepper Sauce, which I think is sweetened with a touch of honey), and finally pick two sides (the veggies were simply prepared and cooked perfectly). I will definitely be going back.

Dinner:
Turkey Breast (3oz)
Three Eggs Scrambled
Avocado (1/4 Large)
Strawberries (6 small)
Green Grapes (Handful)

A major hodgepodge...but, I should note that I made Scott Rib Eye and Sauteed Green Beans. He's just not as much of a fan of my random creations, as I. :)

Workout:
"Nancy"
Five Rounds for Time of:
400M Run
15 Overhead Squats (65lb)

16:51

Yes, I said five rounds...and yes, that is the equivalent of 75 overhead squats! The crazy thing is that it wasn't the overhead squats that got me on this WOD, it was the 400M runs. I think I've mentioned that running isn't really one of my favorite pastimes, so it should be pretty obvious that running after squats is even less desirable. I will definitely be feeling this one tomorrow.

So, as far as the workout is concerned, I did all but the fourth round of overhead squats unbroken. I enjoy overhead squats and I felt strong in the movement this morning. I've had a problem, in the past, of going too deep on my squats and getting sort of stuck at the bottom, which required a whole lot of effort to get back up. I feel like this movement improvement can be attributed to coaching and on-going practice, but also my increase in core/leg strength and flexibility I've gained from yoga.

I better start running, because I'd really like to break 15:00, at the end of the month. Yes, we'll be doing this one again.

I love Overhead Squats, Scott doesn't...how do you feel?
