Back in the Groove

Breakfast:
Leftover Grilled Shrimp (3oz) and Veggies
Banana

I was a little out of sorts this morning as I began my day. I think that the mixture of pollen (I haven't been very religious about my Neti Pot usage), my poor food choice over the weekend, and my lack of exercise, Friday-Monday made for a funky Tuesday. I was on my way to work and just sort of felt 'in a funk'. The thing is, I normally feel energized and ready for whatever the day may bring, so this was a bit unusual for me. Well, this morning we were "auditioning" a new yoga instructor, so I participated in a 30 minute yoga class and let me tell you...I felt energized! Phew! I wish everyone could/would start their days with a little yoga action...I can almost guarantee that it would change your day. There's just something to be said for the refocusing and recharging that it can cause. Try it.

So, anyway...with my attitude shifted and my blood flowing I restarted my day!

Lunch:
Naked Chicken Bowl from Qdoba

I have to say that this is becoming one of my new favorite places to eat 'on the fly'. With exception to the salt, which I have become extremely sensitive to since going Paleo, the food is fresh and totally flavorful. So, here's how you order your Qdoba, Paleo-style:
  1. Start by requesting a bowl.
  2. Ask to begin your bowl with lettuce.
  3. Skip the beans and rice. Add your protein choice (I really like the grilled chicken), squash, and grilled peppers.
  4. Add any salsa (my favorites are the Salsa Verde and Roasted Poblano) you like and a big blob of guacamole.
  5. Ask for one last pile of lettuce.
And, you're good to go!

Dinner:
Grilled Chicken Breast (4oz)
Kabocha Squash (prepared like this)

CrossFit Workout:
10 Power Snatch (65lb)
30 Burpees
20 Power Snatch
20 Burpees
30 Power Snatch
10 Burpees

Welcome back to CrossFit...or something. I'll definitely be feeling this one tomorrow. The snatch is such an awkward movement and to do 60 along with burpees is just craziness. My problem is that I end up powering it up over my head with my arms and shoulders, when I get tired, rather than relying on the power from my legs and hips. I need to work on my set-up and focus more on engaging my hamstring, in order to properly execute this movement.

Here's a video of Sage Burgener doing the Power Snatch, for your viewing pleasure:

What are your thoughts on this movement?

That snatch looks car-azy! Makes me nervous for the safety of the back. Yikes. Thanks for your fish oil recommendations -- I know exactly what you mean about the "fish burp." : ) Oh, and I've never heard of Qdoba -- is it similar to Chipotle? -- so thanks for that recommendation, too.

Yeah, it is. :)

And, no 'fish burps' with the Carlson's Liquid Fish Oil!

As far as Qdoba...it is really similar to Chipotle, but they offer grilled squash (YUM!) and more variety, with regard to sauces and salsas. I really like the roasted poblano sauce they offer. I do have to say, however, that Chipotle has a pretty cool philosophy on food (see here: http://www.chipotle.com/#/flash/fwi_story), which makes it hard to not want to support their business.
